Fall Down 8, Get Up 9No matter how discouraged or criticized you feel, always get up one more time than you fall down. In the beginning, you will fall down a lot. When you look back later, it's easy to see the constant toppling-over act. It helps to think of "failure," being "weak" and other labels as simplyly stumbling and falling. Each time you make yourself get up, you put energy into dissolving the untruths you are binding yourself with. Watch a small child learning to walk. She holds fast to some secure object, then launches off into space. Small children are wise. As soon as she feels unsteady on her feet, she simply flops down on her posterior. She hasn't yet learned the lies about "can't;" "shouldn't;" "mustn't." Neither has she learned about the lies of "must" and "should." Some of us play the game of "I've fallen and I can't get up." The truth is, we can get up, brush ourselves off and start all over again. We can do this as many times as we need to. There are only two ingredients in the recipe of healing the heart. These are patience, and persistence. This may seem simplistic - too trite and all encompassing a concept. Try it out. Give it an honest workout for 30 days. You will be amazed at the self-resistance you encounter in the beginning. The inclination to remain on the ground can be very strong. Realize though, this is merely old habit and the fear of change. It has no reality beyond the limits of our minds. "How do I do it? where do I start?" you may ask. We begin by creating physical motion, by choosing to think, speak and act in different ways. We also need to start wherever we are at the moment. Where we fell down is where we fell down; the location is beside the point. Falling down at work is no different than falling down at home. The effect is the same - the gravity of old habit overcame the effect of heart - for the moment. Walking a path with heart is a course in road building. You develop wonderful skills as you move along. You bcome the dreamer of possibilities; architect; surveyor; designer; chief cook & bottle washer; banker; shareholder. It's all yours, bought and paid for. I am not pretending this is easy. You will soon discover though, as you move along, it is far easier than continuing to fall down and pretending it isn't happening. Next article...
