Attitudes And EnergyThe amount of energy and enthusiasm we can muster up when we enjoy what we are doing is amazing. Time flies, and if we have to break from our task we can't wait to get back and finish it. On the other hand, have you noticed how little energy you have for the things you find dull, boring or distasteful? I wonder where this commodity called energy appears from, and where it disappears to. The amount of energy we find for our activities is directly related to how motivated we are. I have often observed there is a tremendous shift in the amount of energy available when corresponding shifts in attitude occur. It seldom occurs to us to look at energy as an equation: being enthusiastic equals high energy; and being unenthusiastic equals low energy. It is more important to acknowledge the equation than to ask why it is so. For a long time, people didn't understand why smoke went up, yet it still rose. Don't make the mistake of believing you must understand something before you can resolve it. When it comes to getting on with your life, analysis becomes paralysis. Often we believe that simply having the desire to accomplish goals is not good enough, that we need reasons to justify the quest for a better life. Most us think of energy in vague terms. The concept of energy may not be understood, it is still the stuff of life. In the human condition, energy is present when we feel motivated and absent when we don't. While ancient eastern philosophies don't have a better understanding of the origins of energy than we do, they do have an extremely sophisticated understanding of its psychology. Spiritual law says that energy follows thought. In other words, your dominant thought patterns determine the focus of your energies. Remember, your conscious thinking patterns are based on your attitudes. The amount of energy you have is relative to the attitudes you hold. From my own healing journey and self-work I do know that dramatic changes occur in energy levels when people change their attitudes toward themselves and their lives. Next article...
