Only In Your DreamsMany of us have met the person with whom we dream of falling perfectly in love, and who will fall perfectly in love with us. It happens at any age. Everyone succumbs to romantically perfect love. In a subtle way, cultural expectations play a cruel trick on us. We are fooled into searching for a perfection in ourselves and other people which does not exist. This is why we appear unable to find, build and enjoy a stable, fulfilling relationship with someone we love and by whom we are loved in return. When we can't find a loving relationship it is easy to believe there is something wrong with us. We may feel the universe has singled us out for cruel and unusual punishment. Conversely, for those of us already in a relationship, we need to believe that problems can be solved, intimacy and harmony deepened. Like everyone else, I have had my share of knocks. My dreams give me courage, incentive and purpose when all else looks bleak. Allow yourself to have your dreams - don't let anyone kill them. The road to happiness is as clearly sign posted as is the one to unhappiness. Dreams are the stuff of happiness. I encourage you to give your dreams space in your field of possibilities. Love is the only abiding force in the universe, and dreams are the fish in the ocean of love. There are more fish in the ocean than you will ever catch. The opportunities for love are just as bountiful. Be open to the possibility of a loving relationship if you are looking for one, be open to growth in intimacy and satisfaction if already in one. Every worthwhile part of our modern lifestyle began as a dream. The Wright brothers with flight, Nikolai Tesla with electricity, Madame Curie with radium. It is true, "Only in your dreams..."
