Be PersistentAbove all else, I urge you to have persistence. Keep moving forward, whatever your goal is. Often, progress cannot be accurately measured because it isn't taking the form you recognize. Every event begins as a thought. If you want your dreams to come true, then persevere. This is the only difference between a person for whom everything turns to gold and he for whom fate is the controlling factor. Obstacles, stumbling blocks and rocky paths are turned into opportunities and stepping stones. Inside every problem is a gift, waiting to present itself to you. "Never judge a parcel by its wrapping" says the old wisdom. What is the gift? It is power, the knowledge of yourself and your abilities that comes from solving the problem. The power you are given prevents that issue from ever being a problem for you again. That "problem" becomes, next time around, an opportunity to grow. Something to strengthen, deepen and expand your knowledge; an ability to move on to greater things instead of being stopped in your tracks. More importantly, you receive a bigger gift; that sometimes a half truth learned the hard way is more valuable than a whole truth handed to you on a silver platter. Learn to let your imagination soar into dimensions as yet untouched by you. Give yourself the opportunity to become the instrument of creation that spirit intends you to be. And your imagination will roam, through many arenas of future possibilities. It will travel back in time to the forum of your past experiences and forward into the golden glow of your dreams. It will, for you, and you alone. [originally written in 1976] Next article...
