Where Would You Like to Go Today?Do you remember the Microsoft Corporation advertisement with the slogan of "Where would you like to go today?" You know, the invitation, even the challenge, to go out and investigate the brave new cyber-world, courtesy of Microsoft technology. I admit, I am fascinated with the cyber-world, or internet, not so much by some of the content presently residing on it, as I am by its potential to join the hearts and minds of millions of people in a common healing cause. So where would I like to go today? I'd like to go deeper into my heart, deeper into my body and deeper into my mind, so that, as I do so, I move closer to the god of my being. For, in moving closer to my own spiritual self, I am moving closer to the source of all being, from whence we originally came. We have two choices at every breath, every heart beat, every thought, every movement. We can choose to move deeper into ourselves, or further away from ourselves. Nothing in the manifest universe stands still for even a millionth of a second. Everything is vibrating, moving, scintillating with the energy of the Life Force. The Cosmic Dance of Ever-Becoming And the best place to go deeper into ourselves isn't on the internet. The best place is in the things, large and small, of our daily lives. Especially the small things. The words of criticism or sarcasm held back instead of blurted out. The extra minute of patience instead of exasperation. Especially when we are being this way with ourselves. As one of my meditation teachers would tell me over and over, "90% of meditation is making sure you show up." And so it is with our spiritual practice. The success and growth is not in the "big breakthrough", the sudden "Now I get it!" The real success and growth is in the hundreds, even thousands, of little things we do during our days, weeks and months. These are the real building blocks that come together to create the eventual experience of "Aha! - at last!" as we achieve that long awaited breakthrough. There was a time I was petrified about looking inside myself. A long time. What did I find when I finally plucked up the courage, through desperation, to take a look? I found a small child, full of fear, confusion and wild imaginings. A child so lonely, and desperate to be heard, seen, acknowledged and accepted for who he really is, instead of who he "should be." So where would you like to go today? This is where the circle is completed, for without the cyber-world, you wouldn't be reading these words, and neither would I have had the idea to write them. Isn't life wonderful? May every blessing be yours. Next article...
