Prosperity is about EnjoymentWe live in a culture deadly serious about pursuing the good life. Moving at warp speed through life, as most of us do, there is no time to enjoy the journey. I live in a place with a temperate climate, so the winters (Vancouver Island) are very mild. A man I know keeps a beautiful, big garden. He works it all year round. He spends the fall and winter preparing for the spring and summer. During the spring and summer he talks endlessly of what he'll need to do in the fall and winter. I have hardly ever seen him actually sit and enjoy this beautiful place. The chap is forever working on his collection of plants, grasses and trees. There seems to be no time to appreciate what he has created. No time to appreciate the beauty and scents that the inhabitants of his garden give him, either. I have a feeling of gratitude when I walk in this garden. I like especially the multitude of birds who throng in the trees and bushes. In the summer, I enjoy the fruit from the trees, the herbs from the garden. Fall and winter brings a different appreciation, while spring brings the vibration of vital energy to everything. Life is not so serious that there is no time to slow down - back to a reasonable pace of living. Nothing is so important that we must live each day on the run. If you are permanently moving so fast, maybe appreciate the fact that you can change it - if you want to. [last modified 4/25/05] Next page...
