Prosperity is about AbundanceAbundance is not always what it seems to be. For a lot of people, abundance is more, more, and then some more. Our cultural messages say: "Grab all you can, hoard what you've grabbed, protect it at all costs; then grab even more before somebody else gets it!" This drive to accumulate more than we could ever need or use creates a bottomless pit of endless wanting. This feeling manifests as a lack of abundance. There is another, fundamental problem with our cultural fairy tale - it simply doesn't work. So is the solution to go from wanting it all to wanting nothing? Of course not! The answer is to put some balance into it, and to find, in your heart, an approach to abundance that works. One way that works is to know and accept that we live in a naturally and totally plentiful universe. It means practicing a set of alternative attitudes, a path with heart, as opposed to conventional attitudes. Develop an active partnership with life, and start saying "Yes!" to your personal universe. Instead of us ripping life off and hoarding the loot, it pays handsomely to work with life instead. This means giving up some control - maybe a lot of control. It means having some trust and faith in the invisible. A sad side effect of our cultural view of life is to make us mentally arrogant. It teachs us to have an over inflated sense of our own power and importance in the universe. Life doesn't play favorites with the human race over other species. Abundance is as much about trust, balance, gratitude and appreciation, as it is anything else. [last modified 4/25/05] Next page...
