Attitudes and A Path With Heart - FAQ - A Path With HeartWhat Is A Path With Heart?A Path With Heart is all about learning to live with more awareness of both ourselves and the world around us. It isn't a study course in the usually understood sense of "taking a course" on some subject, where a teacher or instructor gives guidance and techniques on how make the end result happen. A Path With Heart is mostly about "waking up," about teaching ourselves to notice and become more aware of the little things in both our own lives, and life around us. It's about tuning in instead of tuning out. Fritz Perls said over and over that to become free we must "Lose our minds and come to our senses," and this is a wonderful description of what I'm calling A Path With Heart. We live in a physical universe founded on cause and effect, and our personal universes are founded on the same law. Every choice we make in life (and we make many each day), has its consequences, and the more we can learn to be aware of what we are choosing, then the more power we have to shape and direct our lives. It is better to end where we want to be to rather than the place we were bulldozed to by force of circumstance. Our western cultural norms and myths teach us that we are far less powerful and capable as individuals than is really the case. This same system also pushes the fiction of how helpless we are in the face of "life" and "the forces of nature," for want of a better description. Here is an experiment in truth: just before it's time for the "news" on TV, take a few quiet moments to relax and center yourself; get in touch with that place of calm solidity in your abdomen. Next, turn on the TV and pay close attention to the face of the talking head who is reading the latest list of sensationalistic murder and mayhem. Give it 5 minutes, and then try to find that inner place of prior, calm solidity. In its place you'll probably feel frightened, or disoriented, or thrown off balance. This little experiment could be the beginning of a path with heart for you. Next page...
