And bear in mind also, we are talking here in extremely broad and generic terms. It isn't possible to move forward with the practice of A Path With Heart and not feel better as a result. Sometimes, the changes are deep, subtle and quite beyond conscious awareness. Until, that is, an old situation is suddenly experienced in a new way, and this is accompanied by surprise at ourselves by the "new" response. As in the original question, even the word "now" is subject to constant change, shifting and the resulting need to keep redefining its meaning. This is another way of saying there is no such thing as a static now. There is only the ever-shifting present moment We can also be conditional and unreasonable without knowing we're doing it. Most of us are actually quite practiced at it. I know I am, if I don't keep a sharp eye on myself. When true healing begins, it is typically accompanied by temporarily feeling worse than before. This is because we have stopped pushing the feelings away, and so they come home to be dealt with. For a period of time, we are busily dealing with old, "unfinished business" and, in the end, healing is dealing with feeling. Next page...
