What Got You Into This Stuff?

To keep the story short - it was the level of personal pain I was experiencing at that time (1977). I was massively codependent (didn't have a clue what that meant), newly divorced (read this as abandoned in my mind) and saddled with some other icky personal issues.

Shortly before I discovered the fact of "a better way," I decided to end my life. That act of self-induced no-turning-back is chronicled someplace else on this web site (I can't remember where, so it obviously isn't important any more).
From the simple fact that I didn't "liquidate" myself flowed some very important and profound first principles.

I learned, first and foremost, that life is a gift. I also learned that the world, people and life are not as I had been brainwashed to believe they all are. For the first time in my life I began to really live. I had been so busy "surviving" I had "never" (on the inside) left that place of survival and so joined in the process of life on the outside. (There is more to the story than can be told here).

As I began to learn that there were other ways of living, I also came across numerology, and found an instant appeal in its structure and teachings. Studying numerology did a lot to bring the related subjects of metaphysics and spirituality to my attention, as well.
