Why Should I Bother?

There is no reason at all for you to bother, if it isn't something you want to do. This is part of the beauty of looking at the options available to us when we consider whether or not to adopt a more satisfying lifestyle.

The first thing we see, once we look, is that this is an equal-opportunity-universe. There is no human caste system, there are no chosen ones on the earth. Everyone is equal, within the confines of their own human life, to be and do whatever they want.

Living in a culture of instant gratification, as we do, creates a totally false sense of power and security for us. Your question is like someone who wants to paint saying "Why should I bother learning to paint? I'll just go buy one." It isn't possible to buy a learned skill, either instantly or slowly.

By the same token, it isn't possible to buy peace of mind, or love, acceptance or any worthwhile human condition. We can't buy healing either. Money has its limits.

Neither can we buy time. We can put off doing one thing while we do another in the same time frame, and this we call buying time.

My short answer to this question usually is "I dunno, you tell me."
