Changing Scares Me, Staying The Same Scares Me

This question resonates to the same answer as one of the others in here, so I'll repeat it here.

There is a part of every human being which seeks security more than anything else, and this part of us understands security to be the absence of change.

Therefore, on one level, we know we need change, want change and even welcome change.

On the level that seeks security first, change is threatening and so induces fear. And the two dynamics, one of knowing change is necessary and the other of needing security, both present themselves to your conscious mind at the same time. Hence forming the basis of the question you asked.

I'm describing this process in a rather simplified manner, yet it explains the basic dynamics of what is going on.
