In the early 1900's, Mrs. L Dow Balliet and others did a lot of work to present the old teachings (the basics brought by Pythagoras) along the lines of New Thought, and thus was born modern numerology. It was strongly promoted by Dr. Julia Seton, who is also credited with giving it the name of "Numerology." Dr. Seton's daughter eventually became a numerologist, probably the most famous and influential of all numerologists. This was Juno Jordan. Juno Jordan founded the California Institute of Numerical Research, which gave a tremendous amount of knowledge and technique to numerology.
