Do Predictions Come True?

Yes, they do. And when they don't, something has usually been miscalculated. There are another couple of faq questions in here that explain the process.

I gave a weekend course some time ago, and at the end of the first day I asked if anyone had a question they'd like answering. One lady said she and her husband (he was there, also) were going on a trip later that week, what should they look out for?

So I wrote the question on the chalk board, showed how to work it out, and said "It'll be a good idea to have your vehicle checked over before you go." Her husband asked "Which part of the vehicle?" I replied "the engine." "Any particular part?" he asked again. "The electrical system," I replied.

The next morning when they came in, they both came up to me and said "We had a rather unnerving experience on the way home last night." I asked what had happened. The husband said "Well, we were driving along when the motor quit. I pulled over, started it again, and the 'Check Engine' light came on and stayed on. Once we got home, I took my truck over to my neighbor, who is a mechanic at the dealer where I bought it. He looked at it, and said a sensor was on the verge of failing."

His wife said "Our trip is to the Yukon, and that means it's a long way between towns. Our neighbor said we would have had a tough time getting our truck fixed up in the back of beyond, and that we were plain lucky that it happened when it did. We just had a good laugh, and didn't tell him about our question and answer."
