The Tarot Cards

The word Tarot strikes a hidden chord when we look at the beautiful and mysterious cards of the Tarot. There is a lot to be learned from even an introductory study of these historical cards and their symbols.

It seems their true origin is unknown. One interesting story is that after Alexandria was finally destroyed, the city of Fez became the new intellectual capital of the world. Wise men travelled there from far and wide, and to overcome the language barriers they set about creating a universal language, which they comiled in a book full of mystical symbols.

A pictorial key to these universal symbols and their infinite combinations let the sages both understand each other, and create a common store of wisdom.

These symbols have come down to us in the form of the 22 cards of the Major Arcana, and the 56 cards of the Minor Arcana
